Before you contact our technical support regarding problems or difficulties using 24U SimpleSound Plug-In, please check if your issue is not listed below:
Very short sounds (0.2 sec. or shorter) are not played back correctly
This is a bug/limitation of QuickTime but there is a way to work around it. If it does not get fixed by updating your copy of QuickTime to the latest version, you can add a small blank space (at least 0,05 sec.) before the sound and, for MP3 Sounds, after the sound (approximately 0.10 sec.) to actually make the sound longer. On Windows you can use the Windows Media Record function to add the blanks.
24uS-PlaySound does not play any sound
24U SimpleSound Plug-In looks for your sounds in the "24uSound" folder by default. If you specify just a file name, make sure that you have stored your sound in the place where the plug-in will find them. On Mac, the "24uSound" folder should be located in your "FileMaker Extensions" folder, on PC it should be in the "FileMaker\System" folder, with FileMaker 7 it should be in the FileMaker's "Extensions" folder for either platform. If you want to play a sound located somewhere else on your hard disk, you must provide a valid path to the file. See the 24uSimpleSoundTutorial.fp5 or 24uSimpleSoundTutorial.fp7 file for information on specifying paths to audio files.
24uS-PlaySound does not play one specific sound
There may be a problem with a format or suffix of the sound file. 24U SimpleSound Plug-In should be able to play all audio formats supported by the version of QuickTime you have installed. If you are not sure about the file format, try to open it with QuickTime Player. If QuickTime Player is able to play the file, 24U SimpleSound Plug-In should recognize it as well.
How can I stop a synchronous playback?
Press ESC key on Windows or Cmd+. key on Mac.
I get a "Powered by 24U Software" splash displayed when quitting FileMaker Pro
