A museum approached us with a request to create a simple and quick survey that visitors could easily complete on-site after viewing new exhibitions. The goal was to collect immediate feedback on the exhibits and quickly and clearly process the data. The main criteria were ease of use and fast deployment, with the solution to be ready within one month.
We developed a simple application using the Xgode tool, which runs on iPads installed in various museum rooms. The app was built on the FileMaker platform and operated in kiosk mode, ensuring easy control for visitors. The survey contained 5–6 screens with buttons for answering questions about the exhibitions. If a visitor did not complete the survey, the app automatically returned to the home screen after a set time limit, preparing it for the next visitor.
If the iPad temporarily lost its network connection, the app stored the answers offline. Once back online, the data was automatically sent to Google Spreadsheet, where museum staff had immediate real-time access to the results. This shared document approach allowed staff to easily monitor and analyze data without needing their own server solution.
This solution provided the museum with a fast and convenient way to collect visitor feedback, with the ability to analyze data immediately, without the need for a complex server setup.
