A customer who already uses FileMaker for project management wanted to create a custom web application for tracking the time external workers, such as graphic designers, spend on tasks. Initially, they used the commercial cloud solution Clockify, which offered more features than necessary and was costly due to monthly licensing fees. The main goal was to create a custom application to ensure independence from licenses and simplify usage by focusing only on essential features.
We designed a web application directly connected to FileMaker via the Data API, enabling users to log time spent on individual projects. The application uses a responsive design, making it accessible from any device and independent of the operating system. Projects are managed in FileMaker, and external workers, like graphic designers, can log their time spent on assigned projects through the web application.
This solution significantly simplified time tracking and led to savings, as the customer avoided costly licenses and gained an application tailored to their needs.
